Bargain 2 man |
|
On 5 September 2010 I was walking through my local
Coles store and saw a display of 2 man tents. Cost $15 each.
I asked a check out operator to weigh one for me and got 1.5 kilos. I
did not think this was possible but at the price I bought one anyway.
When I got it home I found that it weighed 1,421 g all up - so I am guessing
trail weight is 1.3 Kilo. This is extraordinary for a chain store 2
man tent. Seemed like a great idea till I lent them to some friends
for a weekend of trekking. It rained that night. This tent
leaks - so the conclusion is world class weight - but not actually
functioning as one would expect. Be warned.

- I have one of
these - it took a while to come my way though.
My decision making was based on the fact that I did not want a one person
tent after my experience in my Blackwolf Bivy Bag. I needed more room. I went to REI in Chicago in December 2010 with the
intention of buying a Hubba Hubba which was on sale. However, when I
picked up the Seedhouse in comparison I immediatley rejected the Hubba Hubba
idea - much larger as well as heavier. The SL2 was noticeably more
compact and lighter. It was
expensive, however, so I did not proceed at that time. A little later, after I got back
home to Australia I found some closeout items for sale on the Big Agnes web
site - so I bought an SL2 with footprint plus an SL3 to cover most of my options - solo
walking or with one or two kids. I have used this tent once on a single
night through walk. Worked a treat and kept my son and I dry with some light
falls through the night. Great investment from my perspective.
It has an inner layer which is all fly screen - open weave which is perfect
for my moderate climate. |
